Volunteer Positions

Current Needs -

Sound Tech:

Frequency: Biweekly

Shifts Available: 1st Service, 2nd Service

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge required! We will train as needed.

Description: Sound is an important part of each service and making sure everything is heard and sounds good is made possible by our sound techs. Operate the sound board, and audio player to ensure service flows well.

Video Tech:

Frequency: Biweekly

Shifts Available: 1st Service, 2nd Service, 3rd Service

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge required! We will train as needed.

Description: Help add another level to our services by running the slides for our service. Advance slides in PowerPoint and ProPresenter to ensure everyone is at the same point.

Camera Operator:

Frequency: Biweekly

Shifts Available: 1st Service, 2nd Service, 3rd Service

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge required! We will train as needed.

Description: Help those joining us remotely by making sure everyone is in frame. Move the camera as we transition between service sections to make sure every part of service is seen.

Check-in Desk:

Frequency: Once a Month

Shifts Available: 2nd Service, 3rd Service

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge required! We will train as needed.

Description: The safety of the children at our church is important to us and to ensure their security we check every kid in before they head to class. You will be checking students into our check-in system and printing off stickers to identify each kid and their family.

Usher:

Frequency: Monthly

Shifts Available: 1st Service, 2nd Service, 3rd Service

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge required! We will train as needed.

Description: Our ushers make sure people have what they need and know where things are. Some tasks include greeting people, guiding people to seats, providing programs, passing out communion elements and guiding people to the offering box among other tasks.

Greeters:

Frequency: Monthly

Shifts Available: Before: 1st Service, 2nd Service, 3rd Service

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge required! We will train as needed.

Description: Hospitality is an important part of the christian lifestyle and one way we do this is by greeting people at the door. Greeters will open the door for those entering and leaving the church, greeting and providing programs to those entering the church and providing help and guiding new guests on where to go.

Info Desk:

Frequency: Monthly

Shifts Available: Before: 1st Service, 2nd Service, 3rd Service

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge required! We will train as needed.

Description: Help people know what is going on in the church. Provide information about services, clases, events and ministries at Anchor. Provide information to new guests to the nursery, check-in desk and sanctuary as needed.

Worship Team Member:

Frequency: Biweekly

Shifts Available: Traditional Service (piano only), Contemporary Services

Prerequisites: Ability to use an instrument or sing.

Description: Can you sing or do you know how to play a musical instrument? We could use your skills to help lead our congregations through musical worship.

Cleaner:

Frequency: Weekly

Shifts Available: Hours are flexible.

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge required! We will train as needed.

Description: Our building is large and takes a lot of volunteers to make sure it looks good every sunday. Help make sure one or a few of our rooms are cleaned for Sunday.

Mission Ambassador:

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge required! We will train as needed.

Description: Support for missions is a big part of what we do. We currently support 17 different missions on 6 different continents. It is the job of our ambassadors to keep up with our missions. Ambassadors provide information to these missions on the support we plan on providing over the fiscal year and provides to the church information on the work and needs our missions have.

ASL Interpreter:

Prerequisites: Fluent in ASL and English

Description: Anchor has a long tradition of not just being a hearing church but a hearing a deaf church. This means we need interpreters so that everyone who attends can understand what's being communicated whether it's originally in spoken English or ASL. If you are fluent in ASL and English we could use you.

Groundsworker:

Frequency: Weekly

Prerequisites: No prior knowledge required! We will train as needed.

Description: Anchor has more than 5 acres of land and to keep it tamed we need volunteers to mow the lawn and tend the gardens.

Upcoming Needs

College Shuttle Driver:

Frequency: Biweekly

Potential Shifts: Before and After: 1st Service, 2nd Service, 3rd Service

Prerequisites: Experienced Driver Age 21+

Description: Rochester has many colleges that bring thousands of students from around the world to our area. Many of these students do not have ways of getting from campus to church so we want to provide them a ride. You would be transporting students between Anchor and one of these college campuses.

Restoration Cafe Attendant:

Frequency: Monthly

Potential Shifts: Before: 1st Service, 2nd Service, 3rd Service

Prerequisites: No prior experience needed

Description: When we expanded the building in 2019 we converted some of our downstairs classrooms into the Restoration Cafe. Help keep the coffee flowing for those who attend each Sunday.

Musical Cast Member:

Frequency: Schedule to be Announced

Prerequisites: No Prior Experience Needed

Description: Every year we put on a Christmas Musical for our community for free. This musical is entirely staffed by volunteers with many of them with little to no previous experience when they first volunteered. Cast may have lines, solos and sing and dance with the rest of the cast depending on what you decide to audition for. More details will be coming.

Musical Stage Crew Member:

Frequency: Schedule to be Announced

Prerequisites: No Prior Experience Needed

Description: Every year we put on a Christmas Musical for our community for free. This musical is entirely staffed by volunteers with many of them with little to no previous experience when they first volunteered. Crew members make the magic come alive. They make sure props are where they need to be and help move sets during transitions. More details will be coming.

Additional Needs -

(These positions have volunteers but if you interested please reach out. We could always use more to give some of our volunteers a break or fill in for when people are out)

Nursery Worker:

Frequency: Once a Month

Shifts Available: Sunday: 2nd Service, 3rd Service Wednesday: Bible Study

Prerequisites: Member of Anchor

Description: The kids of our church are important and that includes the infants and babies at Anchor. Staff the nursery changing diapers, playing with infants, providing for their needs and helping guide them through a bible lesson.

Kids Sunday School Teacher Assistant:

Shifts: 2nd service, 3rd service

Prerequisites: Member of Anchor

Description: Do you love to share the love of God with young children? You may be a great fit as an Assistant Teacher for our Kids Sunday School. Assist the teacher through things like worship, lessons, snack time and crafts.

Kids Wednesday Night Bible Study Teacher Assistant:

Shifts: Wednesday: Bible Study

Prerequisites: Member of Anchor
